A multimeter is an instrument used to measure AC/DC voltage, resistance, DC current, etc. It is a necessary tool for electricians and radio production.

At first glance, the multimeter is very complex. In fact, it is composed of a Ammeter (commonly known as a meter head), a dial, a range selector switch, and a probe. If the range selection switch is pointed to the DC current range during use, the Ammeter M is connected with some shunt resistors to expand the range, making it a Ammeter with several different ranges. The measurement results should be read based on the DC current scale on the dial. Usually, the second line on the dial is the current scale. Similarly, if the range selection switch points to the DC voltage range, the meter head is connected with some other resistors in series (using the principle of series resistance voltage division to make it a multi range Voltmeter). The reading should be based on the DC voltage scale on the dial. Most multimeters share the same scale for voltage and current. If a rectifier is connected to the circuit for measuring DC voltage, AC voltage can be measured. The principle of measuring resistance is similar to measuring DC voltage, except that a set of batteries must be added during the test. When selecting the switch to point to the resistance range, simply find the first line of dedicated resistance scale readings on the dial.
